Delegation Skills

Have you delegated tasks only to later find out that the task wasn't completed properly or that it wouldn't be completed on time? Perhaps you need to re-evaluate your delegation skills.

Course Aims

This course will help you work more effectively with others in a delegation situation. You will discover :

  • How to ensure joint commitment to a delegated task
  • How to identify people who are confident and motivated to accept the delegated task
  • How to recognise common delegating problems and overcome them.

Content

You will learn :

  • When to delegate
  • What to delegate
  • When and how you can delegate to colleagues (or your manager!)
  • How to demonstrate personal commitment when delegating a task.
  • Recognise the reasons why people may not accept delegated tasks.
  • Select the appropriate solution when people are resistant to delegation.
  • Recognise the benefits of encouraging co-operation in delegation.
  • Motivate people who have accepted a delegated task
  • Ensure people who accept delegated tasks feel they gain too.
  • Monitor the delegated job so you can spot and handle typical problems.

Course Structure

We run this one day workshop as ’hands-on’ session with plenty of opportunity for you to improve existing skills.

We ask attendees to bring details of a real life situations where delegation skills might have a role to play,. This ensures that our teaching is set in a context that is immediately relevant and useful.
