ILM Certificate and Study Membership questions
What exactly is the ILM?
The ILM (The Institute of Leadership and Management) is part of the City and Guilds group. It is an independent body, and the leading UK approving organisation for management and leadership training. The ILM have approved our courses. More details can be found on the ILM web site: www.i-l-m.com
What is the 'ILM certificate and study package' that is offered with some of your courses?
Many of our courses (including Train the Trainer) are approved by the ILM. This means that on attending the course you can receive an ILM certificate and 6 month 'trial' study package. The price of this is £46 (+VAT) per delegate.
What exactly does 'approved by the ILM' mean?
The ILM have reviewed our courses in detail. They have approved the entire course, including our trainers, course material and course delivery. The ILM believe that our course meets their high standards and so they are happy to approve it.
The ILM also monitor the course - this means that the ILM approval is always up to date.
What does the 'study membership' provide?
The email / web based studying membership includes:
- Access to LearningZone - An exclusive e-learning portal bringing together 100s of digital learning resources, including:
- 50 in-depth e-learning modules
- 300 easy-to-digest essentials
- 100s of video tutorials
- Over 200 action tip guides and more
- An electronic copy of ILM's magazine, Edge
- Use of ILM's comprehensive resource centre including 100s of e-books in their digital library, 1000s of e-journals plus suggested reading lists and study guides.
- Access to the ‘Newsroom’, which provides daily updates on leadership and management issues
- Access to Career development services and a Job Vacancies board
- Advice on writing a CV including a CV review service, plus interview tips.
- Access to discounted evening events discussing leadership and management
Why do you charge extra for the ILM certificate and study package?
The ILM charge Adelphi Associates £46 + VAT for each certificate and study membership package, and unfortunately we have to pass this charge on.
We do not, however, add to the ILM charge - in fact we subsidise it by absorbing all postage and administration costs. This is so you / your business pay the minimum amount possible.
Can I have the certificate and no study package, or vice versa?
We're afraid not. The ILM issues the study package (also known as trial membership) with the certificate - You cannot have one without the other.
Can I request the ILM certificate after the course?
Ideally the ILM certificate should be requested at the time of booking. We will invoice the ILM fee along with the course place fee.
However, we are able to process requests for the ILM certificate for up to one week after the course has taken place.
If the certificate is requested after the course we need to take immediate payment (either by credit or debit card). Alternatively, delegates may pay cash to the course trainer (we will then issue a receipt).
If more than a week has elapsed from the end of the course we regret that due to ILM registration rules, we cannot register delegates for the certificate.
For on site courses - Can some delegates have the certificate and not others?
Yes, this is fine. Ideally, please let us know in advance of the course which delegates should receive the certificate.
Will I have to do extra work to get the ILM certificate?
No, the course is exactly the same whether you choose the ILM option or not.
When will I get the ILM certificate and study membership?
The ILM procedure for registration involves a number of steps. You can expect to receive your certificate within about 6 weeks of the course date. Studying membership usually starts about 2 to 3 weeks after the course. You will receive an e-mail direct from the ILM with full details.
If I don't have the ILM certificate, can I get a certificate from Adelphi Associates?
Yes, if you would like an Adelphi Associates certificate please ask your trainer when you are on the course. The Adelphi Associates certificate will be posted to you within two weeks of the course date (usually sooner). |
